Summer GIFTs from The Village Shul Cheder

01/08/22Summer GIFTs from The Village Shul Cheder

The theme of The Village Shul Cheder Graduation this year was ‘Together as One’. The cheder chose GIFT recipient families to benefit from their parent & child mitzva project on this last session before the summer.

Summer boxes were decorated & filled with fun and useful items for families to occupy themselves with over the summer, such as inflatable footballs, a bucket and spade, sunglasses, water bombs, bubble wands, frisbees & word search books.

Michelle Barnett MBE, Founding Director of GIFT was invited to speak about the charity’s work in the community & the children presented her with a giant cheque with the money their cheder had raised throughout the year.  The children in turn were presented with certificates and tzedaka boxes.

Michelle Barnett told us “I was delighted to attend The Village Shul Cheder Graduation and experience the joy & meaning that permeates throughout the activities and curriculum run so ably by R. Devorah Leah Weisz and the team.

The Rabbi & Rebbezin are so dedicated to their special community & embrace everything they do with such love & warmth.

We truly value our friendship & partnership with the cheder & shul and our recipient families were hugely grateful for the wonderful summer boxes.”

Village Cheder Director Rebbezin Devorah Leah Weisz explained

“Our Cheder children were so excited to see where their tzedaka money was going to. They loved packing summer boxes for children who may not be able to afford going to camp or on holiday. We are always in awe of the work GIFT is constantly doing and connecting with them for our end of year event brought it to another level, providing meaning and pleasure to all the children and parents involved. Thank you GIFT!”
