Grandparents GIFT It Forward

08/11/21Grandparents GIFT It Forward

For the 5th year running, grandparents Geoff and Evelyn Wynne took their grandchildren to their local toy shop to buy presents and then wrap them for families supported by GIFT.

Grandchildren Rafi Goldberg, a 12 year old Immanuel student and his 10 year old sister Gabi, a pupil at Mathilda Marks Kennedy look forward to this day every year.

The grandparents told us “We have been very blessed and we wanted to share our gifts with children who may not have so much as well as involving our grandchildren. As we finished shopping and were walking to the car, Rafi put his hand on his heart and said  ‘doing this makes me feel so good and it makes other children so happy too.’ Kevin, the very kind manager of Smyths Friern Barnet also gave us a discount when we told him why we were shopping, what a mensch!”

Yasmine Ittach GIFT’s Family Liason explained “As Chanukah approaches, we couldn't be more grateful for the outpouring of love from givers in the form of toys and gifts for the children of GIFT's vulnerable families. Another reflection of staggering kindness that lights up our community, is the recent shopping spree by the grandparents with their grandchildren at a local toy store, which is sure to bring joy and laughter to many homes. Thank you for lighting up the lives of our families, not just during festivals, but all year round.”

In addition to GIFT’s many initiatives, the charity supports hundreds of households with weekly food parcels, toys over Chanukah and ongoing practical help.
